All About Mrs. Grannis

I have been teaching kindergarten here at SMUSD for the past 18 years.  Before teaching kindergarten I taught 4th grade for LAUSD and spent a year teaching at an international preschool in Taiwan. I started teaching Kindergarten at Carver Elementary in 1994 and transferred to Valentine's Kindergarten in 1997.

I have enjoyed job-sharing with my partner, Krista Diaz, since 2005.

I grew up in San Marino and attended San Marino Schools. Upon graduation I attended the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) where I received a B.A. in Psychology. The following year, I attended 

Pacific Oaks College where I earned my California Clear Teaching Credential.  I completed my education at California State University, Los Angeles where I earned my Masters Degree in Education along with my Reading Language Arts Specialist Credential. 

My husband, Fred, and I have 3 children. My daughter, Cameron, is an 8th grader at Huntington Middle School along with her sister, Amanda, who is beginning 6th grade this year. My son, Owen, is a 3rd grader here at Valentine. When we have time together as a family we love to spend time outdoors, going to the beach, riding bikes around town and just being together.
